Wonderful Christmas Fayre
Saturday 4th December 2010
Many thanks to all involved in organising the Clifton Campville Christmas
Fayre.
There were hot Christmassy things to eat, drinks, stalls, tombola, raffle,
licensed bar and Santa Claus.
Both the Rectory and Village Hall were in full use with large numbers of
visitors in spite of the freezing and snowy weather.
Carols and Readings in St Andrew’s Church concluded the day’s events
from 5.30pm. The whole event
was a tribute to everyone involved and wonderful start to the Christmas
season. The Parish website will
hopefully soon contain pictures of the Christmas Fayre.
Village & Parish Web Site
Continuing work by local residents provides the excellent Parish Web Site
fully supported by the Parish Council.
Please have a look at
www.cliftoncampville.com
with links to local groups,
organisations
and parish events diary.
Our grateful thanks go to the individuals involved in producing this
most attractive and interesting web site.
Anyone wishing to make suggestions for or to place events on the web
site please go to any of the listed web site contacts.
Yoga at Elford Village Hall
– Mondays 7.30-9pm during term time.

School Safety & Highways Issues
Parish Council representatives and the Highways agency meet on fairly
regular occasions to look at improving the safety of all outside the school
and throughout the parish, particularly at school drop off and collection
times of the day. The Parish
Council has been vigorously pursuing 20mph limits in the area of the school
during school hours.
Highways have promised to look again at this issue and we still await their
recommendations.
The lists of jobs produced by the Parish Council is being worked through by
highways, but please advise us of any of your concerns.
Wind Farm Planning Application
The scale of the proposed development is such that work on the application
is still ongoing by Lichfield Planning Dept. and decisions are yet to be
made. For regular updates please see Matthew Ellis’s web site

HAUNTON - BKV JUDGES’ COMMENTS
2010
BKV posters were well located at the village entrances, on the notice boards
and in the bus shelters; and there were also children’s posters in the bus
shelters.
The small village notice board was well maintained and the bus shelters were
also used to display up-to-date local information.
There was information on the disposal of all kinds of waste; and there were
adequate notices about dog fouling.
The churchyard was generally excellent, but the June judges felt that more
effort was needed to deal with weeds.
The surrounds of the village hall were quite good, but all judges commented
on weeds at the rear of the hall and in and around the car park.
The telephone box was very neat and tidy during all rounds of judging.
Both bus shelters were good.
One was described as “immaculate” with attractive flower tubs and well used
to display posters and local information.
The seat/bench was in good condition with tidy surrounds.
The very small village green was satisfactory, but the May judges felt that
the verges throughout the village were very weedy.
Private gardens were generally very good, but the June judges noted some
weedy frontages and driveways.
Despite the main road through the village there was no litter; neither was
there any dog mess.
The basic map was quite easy to follow, but some judges felt that the
colours could be a bit “lighter” and that figures and letters on the map
could be a bit larger.
Given the very small population and the busy road which runs through
Haunton, the village does well to keep on top of the potential litter
problem. There is evidence of
community effort and further improvements are possible on the level of care
of the verges and village green and the village hall car park in particular.
Congratulations on your Highly Commended in 2010 and good luck in
2011.

BKV PLEASE HELP
Would parishioners be interested in Clifton Campville entering the Best Kept
Village Competition?
It would be wonderful if this could happen, but volunteers would be required
in the organisation. Please
contact a Parish Councillor or the Clerk as detailed at the end of this
newsletter.
