reminder for the competitions:
1. An arrangement of summer garden flowers – open to anyone. Please put your name and telephone number in a sealed envelope to place underneath your arrangement.
2. Photographic Competition – 3 classes a) up to 11 years old
b) 12 to 18 years
c) 19 years and over
The subject is any creature. Please mount your photograph (of any size) on a piece of card so that we don’t damage your photograph when we mount it on a display board. Please write your name on the back with the class you are entering – a, b or c.
Photographs must be received by Eve Bainbridge, Rose Cottage, Clifton Lane, Clifton Campville, B79 0AH, together with £1 entry fee for adults and 50p for children entering classes (a) and (b), no later than Tuesday, 7th June 2011. Photographs may be collected from the marquee at the Country Fair from 3.30pm or please enclose a suitable stamped, addressed envelope if you would like us to post it back to you.
3. Bake a Chocolate Cake – 150 g Softened Margarine; 150 g caster sugar; ½ teaspoon vanilla essence; 3 eggs; 100 g self raising flour; 50 g cocoa powder; 1 tablespoon warm water.
Lightly grease two 7 inch sandwich tins and dust with flour. Pre-heat oven to 180o ; cream margarine and sugar; beat in vanilla essence; add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition until the mixture is thick and creamy. Sift flour and cocoa into the bowl and fold them into mixture with a metal spoon. Stir the water in carefully. Pour mixture into tins and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until a skewer comes out clean. Filling: cream 75 g butter with 150 g icing sugar. Sandwich cakes together and dust top with icing sugar.
4) Seaside Scene on a Plate – for 3 to 11 year olds. Please put your name and telephone number in a sealed envelope to place underneath the plate.
Apart from the photographs (see above) all entries for the competitions
should be brought to the show marquee by 10 am at the latest on Country
Fair day, 11th June.
